Lone Star Circle of Care is excited to announce the return of the Big Pink Benefit! Save the date for Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at El Buen Samaritano in Austin, TX. The Benefit will feature a festive brunch, bubbles, shopping, silent and live auctions, Big Pink Bus tours, and a special program highlighting the women who have been directly impacted by the Big Pink Bus.
The 2026 Big Pink Benefit is especially meaningful as we celebrate the Big Pink Bus’s five years of service anniversary. Since 2021, the Bus has traveled nearly 50,000 miles, completed over 10,000 mammograms, supported follow-up care for more than 1,600 patients, and helped diagnose over 75 women.

Susan Dawson Legacy
It is not often that you meet a force of nature, but Susan Dawson certainly was one. An extraordinary leader, advocate, and friend, Susan's vision, determination, and commitment to serving others made the launch of Lone Star Circle of Care's Big Pink Bus possible. With heavy hearts, we mourn her passing.
Diagnosed with breast cancer, Susan transformed her personal journey into a mission to improve cancer care and support for others. Learning of the Big Pink Bus’s decommissioning, Susan rallied individual donors and raised the funds necessary to relaunch the Big Pink Bus under Lone Star Circle of Care. As co-chair of Addressing Cancer Together, Susan educated regional leaders on the gaps in cancer care and laid the foundation for partnerships that keep the Big Pink Bus on the road. Susan’s tireless advocacy and no-frills approach to bringing people together advanced the mission of the Big Pink Bus and cancer care options in Central Texas.
Since its launch in 2021, the Big Pink Bus has delivered more than 10,000 mammograms, detected breast cancer in more than 80 women, and helped connect them to follow-up care. As the Big Pink Bus travels throughout Central Texas, it carries the inscription, "Honoring the Work of Susan Dawson," a lasting tribute to Susan’s vision, leadership, and dedication to expanding access to breast cancer screening in Central Texas.
Our hearts are with Susan's family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Thank you, Susan. Your impact will continue to save lives for years to come.

Together, we raised funds for the Big Pink Bus, bringing mobile mammograms to those who need them most.
